ZUBIN MEHTA LIVE IN CONCERT (2013 & 2016)

On the occasion of the 80th birthday celebration of Maestro Zubin Mehta, the Mehli Mehta Music Foundation had presented a concert in Mumbai . The renowned conductor of Western Music was accompanied by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO), Andrea Bocelli and Maria Katzarava. This spectacular event was a full house with over 12,000 seated in the audience, all of whom were mesmerized with the stellar performance of the conductor and the orchestra. The orchestra composed of a blend of musical instruments such as strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion and keyboard. Strings included first violins, second violins, violas, cellos and basses. Woodwinds consisted of flutes, piccolo, oboes, English horn, clarinets, piccolo clarinets, bass clarinets, bassoons, and contrabassoons. Brass included horns, trumpets, trombone, bass trombone and tuba. Percussion’s and keyboard consisted of timpani, percussion, harp, and the piano. These renowned artists mesmerized their fans in Mumbai where initial success prior to the concert was noticed through the remarkable sale of tickets, which were sold out two weeks prior to the concert.

SNL was also a part of the Ehasas-e-Kashmir concert at Shalimar Garden on the outskirts of Srinagar where Bavarian State Orchestra and renowned conductor Zubin Mehta performed in 2013. The event was organised by Germany’s ambassador to India, Michael Steiner, who told a news conference that the aim of the concert was to “reach the hearts of the Kashmiris with a message of hope and encouragement”. The concert had an east meets west beginning when Soz-o-Saaz, a band of Kashmiri musicians led by Abhay Rostum Sopori, collaborated with the German musicians for a traditional local composition.
